The Taste of Cajun/Creole in Lancaster

As we sit down towards the end of each year, we contemplate what we should do for the following year with our culinary tours here in Lancaster County. This is all part of the many things your Innkeepers, Jan at the Artist's Inn and Carl at the Harvest Moon do behind the scenes with the Culinary Tours that we put on. Many ideas are always thrown out on the table. Oriental... German... Holiday Cookies... and the list goes on. With the daily chores we each have of running our bed and breakfast, there is never enough time to implement all the ideas, however each year we seem to come up with quite a substantial list of tours.

Each year the Cajun Murder Mystery Weekend is added sometime in the summer. It has now been part of the line up for the past three years. It is after all one of the favorites! We start Friday night off with a good ole fashioned murder mystery somehow geared around New Orleans. Guest participate in what is always a great evening of fine Cajun hors d' oeurves, intrigue and a fun all around.

The following day we invite our friends from Prudhomme's Lost Cajun Kitchen to come by and cook for us. David and Sharon own this Unique Restaurant in Columbia PA. David is the nephew of Chef Paul Prudhomme from Louisiana.

Picture This: Authentic Cajun/Creole cooking grilled right in front of us as we dine Al Fresco. The smells of the Grill along with the Cajun music creating an authentic Mardi Gras atmosphere. Beads and masks placed all around daring you to pick them up.

The menu:

Blackened Shrimp Grilled

House Salad served with Honey Mustard Poppyseed dressing

Grilled Catfish with a Mushroom Sauce, Fried Green Tomatoes served with Rice

All above served with Lost Cajun Kitchen's Jalapeno Cheddar Rolls homemade of course.

David and Sharon put on a great show each year. We are thankful for their participation with our tours and demos. The food is fresh, cooked just right and is never too fiery for my Northern tastebuds, and the catfish is always... well let's just say one piece is not enough.

We have another demo coming up this weekend, July 10th and 11th 2009. Come along and join us if you wish. As we always say, "the more the merrier", and besides that everyone love a great "who dun it"
